What started in 2011 with a few students and a big idea, TEDxFoggyBottom has quickly become one of the largest student-run TEDx events in the United States. Each year, TEDxFoggyBottom is brought to life by over 40 undergraduates at The George Washington University in Washington DC and aims to bring together some of the world’s incredible innovators, thinkers and doers to inspire and collaborate with the Foggy Bottom community. TEDxFoggyBottom attendance has more than quadrupled since its beginning, and its talks have been featured on Upworthy, as TEDx Editor's Picks, and have gathered over 1.5 million views on YouTube to date.
On April 3rd, 2015, over 1,500 people from around the Foggy Bottom and DMV community gathered for a full-day experience of live presenters and performers, interactive experiences, and collective collaboration. All talks and aspects of the conference centered around the theme of "Be Rebellious."
All Talks can be viewed on our YouTube playlist.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxFoggyBottom, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
